I am a single mother of two and attend the local university as an art education (secondary) major.?

I really need a good computer. I am trying to piece together one with not much luck. Is there any way for a single mom who is a student to get a computer?
Sorry…I am from Texas in the Panhandle. I will be using the computer mostly for homework , photography, and really need Microsoft Word programs. Thank you.
